Hi, on January 31st my best friend and room mate passed away unexpectedly. He was diabetic and without warning his kidneys failed and life support was discontinued early morning of the 31st. He had spent only 2 days in the hospital and only appeared to become very ill 2-3 days prior to going to the hospital.
In his last days he was too ill to collect his cheque from Jasper Place Health and Wellness where he has had his mailing address for several years and therefore hadn't paid rent for February (and obviously he shouldn't have had to in the end any ways). As a low income mom of a 16 year old and 9 month old it was not easy covering the $700 that should have been his portion. I am not able to rent the room out again immediately either, not until the family has collected and gone through his personal effects which leaves me in a difficult situation.
I am hoping against hope that someone out there has some grocery store gift certificates or food type certificates that they keep forgetting to use or are for a store that they don't shop at. Obviously I am not picky and would appreciate anything that anyone is willing or able to do! I have contacted the food bank but for those who have used it before we all know that there are items they never give out there such as milk and meat.
I live in the Delton area and since I have a baby drop off would be helpful but not necessary, I could send my 16 year old on a bus to meet with you (or another family member).
I also have a couple of items that I would be willing to let go in trade for food gift certificates if you are unable to help otherwise. I don't have much but would be willing to part with my apartment sized deep freeze, my portable air conditioner or even the meat smoker that I have out in the back yard. Perhaps the BBQ as well but I believe it may require a new rack which should be universal and available at The Home Depot. Plus, I have a couple of baby outfits that my son has outgrown for 3-6 month I could trade as well but I am not sure how many I have at the moment.
Thank you for your consideration!
